Let’s Not Pretend Kyrie Irving Is a Victim

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving continues to be persecuted for his insensitive re-tweet of a link to an anti-Semitic movie. Doug reminds us that link is not the only thing Irving needs to answer for. In a vacuum that tweet was questionable, but added to the rest of his public comments and attitude, it presents a real problem for the Nets, and their insistence that he take steps to understand and atone for the harm he is causing is perfectly reasonable. What Doug really can’t understand is how some are now trying to paint Kyrie as a victim, which he is most surely not.

Doug Gottlieb: “The real reason that Kyrie Irving is being made to go through these 6 steps is not re-tweeting the movie, it’s all the other things...And now we’ve turned him into, ‘Well, he’s a victim! He’s a victim. They’re making him do so much.’ Like, what are you talking about?”
