Packers Beat Saints 20-10 In 2nd Preseason Game

Back home in Lambeau, the Green Bay Packers continue to get ready for the regular season with a 20-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Jordan Love continued to show improvement this week, completing 12 of 24 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. There were several more passes that should've been completed but were dropped by his wide receivers that looked like they would've been explosive plays. Love's touchdown pass was to Romeo Doubs in the first quarter on a fade route into the corner of the endzone with a perfectly placed ball that was highpointed and played well by Doubs to make the catch.

Tyler Goodson got the bulk of the carries out of the backfield with 10 carries for 42 yards, including a tough 15 yard run to set up 1st and goal. Juwann Winfree and Romeo Doubs both caught three passes.

Defensively, Shawn Davis picked up a fumbled snap from Saints QB Ian Book and ran it back 37 yards to the Saints 32 yard line. Micah Abernathy secured an impressive interception towards the end of the 2nd quarter.

3rd string quarterback Danny Etling had the most exciting play of the game, with a 51 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for Green Bay.

Several players made good impressions this week and took steps forward. There's one more week of the preseason left. Next Thursday, the Packers will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in their final tuneup before the regular season begins.
