Packers Select LB Quay Walker With The 22nd Pick In The 2022 NFL Draft

After a wild night in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, with six wide receivers going off the board before the Green Bay Packers came on the clock at 22 overall, the Packers selected Georgia LB Quay Walker.

Quay Walker's teammate, George Pickens, was still on the board at 22, but the Packers passed on Pickens and wide receiver at 22 and go with a great linebacker from a championship Georgia defense in Walker.

Walker is an inside linebacker and he should be a Day 1 starting linebacker alongside De'Vondre Campbell in the middle of the Packers 3-4 defense. Walker will help improve the Packers defense against the run. ILB is a position the Packers have needed depth at for a while but they haven't addressed it much early on in drafts. With Campbell in the middle of the defense in 2021, the defense saw marked improvement and the Packers are now investing in the position with Walker to go alongside.

Walker is 6'4" and 241 pounds. He ran a 4.52 40 yard dash at the combine and had a 32 inch vertical jump.

With linebacker addressed, some of the other team needs for the Packers to target with the 28th overall pick are wide receiver, edge rusher, and offensive lineman.
