The Green Bay Packers signed WR Allen Lazard to the active roster from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad, signed DL Eric Cotton and CB D.J. Killings to the practice squad, placed RB Aaron Jones on injured reserve and placed TE Ethan Wolf on the practice squad; injured list. The transactions were announced Tuesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Lazard (luh-ZARD), a 6-foot-5, 227-pound rookie, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State by the Jacksonville Jaguars on May 11. He has spent the entire regular season on the Jaguars’ practice squad. Lazard appeared in 48 games for the Cyclones, finishing as the school’s career leader in receptions (241), receiving yards (3,360) and 100-yard receiving games (12). He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2016 and 2017. Lazard will wear No. 13 for the Packers.
Cotton, a 6-foot-4, 272-pound rookie, played in 37 games over four seasons at Stanford. After beginning his career as a tight end, he moved to defensive end. In three seasons on defense, Cotton registered 36 tackles (22 solo), five tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. As a senior in 2017, he set career highs in tackles (30), solo tackles (21), tackles for a loss (four) and sacks (2.5). Cotton will wear No. 59 for the Packers.
Killings, a 6-foot, 185-pound first-year player, originally signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of the University of Central Florida. After being waived by the Patriots following training camp, he spent the majority of the season on the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad. He was waived/injured by the Eagles after training camp this season and spent some time on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad and active roster. Killings played in 34 games at UCF, recording 99 tackles, 17 passes defensed, five interceptions (one returned for a TD), a sack and a forced fumble. He will wear No. 41 for the Packers.
