Mike Daniels, Trevor Davis head to I.R.; Jake Kumerow activated

The Green Bay Packers activated WR Jake Kumerow from reserve/injured; designated for return, signed FB Danny Vitale to the active roster from the practice squad and placed DL Mike Daniels and WR Trevor Davis on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Saturday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Kumerow (KOO-mer-o), a 6-foot-4, 209-pound first-year player out of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, spent the last week of the 2017 season on Green Bay’s practice squad. After suffering an injury in the preseason, he was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 3. Kumerow originally signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2015. He spent almost all of the 2015-16 seasons on the Bengals’ practice squad, and was promoted to the active roster in Week 17 in 2016. Kumerow was placed on injured reserve by Cincinnati on Aug. 10, 2017, before being released on Sept. 22. The Bartlett, Ill., native was signed to New England’s practice squad on Oct. 26, but was released by the Patriots on Nov. 9.

Vitale (vuh-TAL-ee), a 6-foot, 239-pound third-year player, has been on the Packers’ practice squad since signing on Oct. 22. He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round (No. 197 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Northwestern. As a rookie, Vitale spent some time on the Buccaneers’ practice squad before being signed by the Cleveland Browns. In 2016-17, he played in 24 games with nine starts for the Browns, recording seven receptions for 46 yards (6.6 avg.) and 13 tackles on special teams. Vitale was waived/injured on Sept. 1, 2018, and released on Oct. 12.
