WSN Coaches Poll: Area undefeated teams rank high

In this week's WisSports.net Coaches Polls, area undefeated teams like Madison Memorial, Black Hawk, and Platteville in girls' basketball, and Madison La Follette, Darlington, Cuba City, and Monticello in boys' basketball, find themselves ranked among the state's best squads.

The Big 8 is well-represented in both girls and boys basketball. On the girls side, Madison Memorial is #2 behind reigning champ Bay Port. Middleton checks in at #4, its lone loss coming to Memorial, while Sun Prairie is just out side of the poll after ranking in the top ten last week. Over on the boys side, La Follette is behind only Hamilton in the D1 poll, with Sun Prairie at #4 and Madison East at #8.

In the Badger Conference, Beaver Dam continues to be an undisputed #1 in D2 for girls hoops. DeForest, also in the Badger North, slots in at #5. Edgewood in the Badger South falls just outside of the top ten in D3. Over on the boys side, #5 Reedsburg, #6 Stoughton, and #10 DeForest show the depth of the Badger Conferences, with teams like Waunakee, Monroe, and Monona Grove all in the mix for conference titles as well.

Other ranked teams in girls basketball include undefeated Platteville as the #1 team in Division 3, Lake Mills at #5, and MArshall, the defending champ, at #7. In Division 4, Cuba City is #8, and in Division 5, defending champ Black Hawk reigns at #1, with River Ridge (#3), Fall River (#4), and Shullsburg (#8) all ranked as well.

Other ranked teams in boys basketball include East Troy at #2 in D-3 out of the Rock Valley Conference, with Wisconsin Dells #6 and Lake Mills #10. In Division 4, Cuba City is the top team, with Darlington at #3 and Fennimore at #8. Division 5 is paced locally by Monticello at #3, with Wauzeka-Steuben at #8.
