Green Bay Southwest's Max Scharping taken in 2nd round of NFL Draft

Green Bay Southwest product Max Scharping of Northern Illinois, an offensive tackle, was selected by the Houston Texans with the 23rd pick in the 2nd round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The selection makes Scharping the first former Wisconsin high school football player to be drafted in 2019.

Scharping started all 53 games of his college career (consecutively), and was all-MAC at right tackle and left tackle in back-to-back years.

Scharping was selected in an offensive line-heavy second round. The Green Bay Packers picked Mississippi State offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins 11 spots earlier.
