Markus Howard tabbed as Big East Player of the Week

Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Howard set the scoring record at the Orlando Invitational while helping the Golden Eagles to a runner-up finish.

The accolade is the second of the season for Howard and the 10th of his career.

Howard averaged 32.3 points in a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles at the Orlando Invitational. He broke the tournament scoring in only two games, tallying 91 points. He had 51 points in a semifinal win against USC (101-79) and 40 points in an opening round victory versus Davidson (73-63). Howard became only the fourth player in major conference history to score 40 points or more on consecutive days. For the three games, Howard shot 42.3 percent (14-33) from 3-point range. He leads the nation in scoring with a 26.0 average.
