The race featured another "big one" after only 15 laps that took out over a dozen of the top cars. Then the rain came. After 5 and a half weather delay, they got back to racing around 8:30pm. In the end, Michael McDowell won the 2021 Daytona 500 after Joey Logano made contact with Brad Keselowski out front, causing them to spin out and wreck the field as McDowell maneuvers past for the victory. It was the first career Cup victory for McDowell.
