Bucks clear bench, roll past hapless Spurs

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Bucks used a late first-half run to springboard their eventual rout of the third-worst team in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs (19-54) Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum, 130-94.

Leading 51-49 with 2:34 left in the second quarter, Milwaukee closed the half on a 15-2 run and never looked back.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 31 points in just under 25 minutes of play. His six points in that 15-2 run helped lead the way.

"I think a big part of that finish to the second quarter was (Giannis) attacking and then him getting us open threes," Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. "He just creates great looks for himself and for others and he just continues it to start the third quarter."

It was a night for Budenholzer to clear the bench, with every eligible player except for Thanasis Antetokounmpo playing over six minutes. The elder Antetokounmpo brother returned to the Bucks bench Wednesday after a pair of games where he was absent without explanation.

After Wednesday’s win, the schedule gets considerably harder for the Bucks (52-20), with games at Denver (49-24) to go along with home games against Boston (50-23), Philadelphia (49-23), and Memphis (45-27) looming.

Milwaukee now travels to Salt Lake City to play Utah (35-37) Friday night.
