Woodruff Struggles As Crew Drop Series Opener To Reds 10-5

It was an uncharacteristically poor outing from Brandon Woodruff and the Brewers pitching staff on Monday as the Milwaukee Brewers dropped the series opener against the Reds by a score of 10-5.

Longtime Brewers killer Colin Moran got the Reds on the board first with a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

The Brewers responded in the top of the 4th with newly crowned NL Player of the Week Rowdy Tellez slugging a 2 RBI double to give Milwaukee a lead. That lead would be extended in the 5th inning as Omar Narvaez hit his second home run of the season to make it a 3-1 game.

But the Reds would come right back in the 5th off of Brandon Woodruff, scoring four runs and bouncing Woodruff from the game.

Milwaukee wasn't going away quietly though as Tyrone Taylor and Jace Peterson had back-to-back RBI singles in the 6th to make it a 6-5 deficit. But that would be as close as the Brewers got.

The Reds added a run in the 6th on a Tommy Pham single and then a three run homer by Kyle Farmer in the 7th off Hoby Milner supplied the dagger.

The Brewers and Reds play again tomorrow as Freddy Peralta takes the ball for the Crew against Hunter Greene for the Reds.
