Brewers Slug Their Way To 10-3 Victory Over Cleveland Indians

The best team in baseball on the road this season (47-24) won once again as the Milwaukee Brewers cruised to a 10-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

The scoring got started early with Kolten Wong scoring in the first inning on what was charged as an error on Indians catcher Ryan Lavarnway when he picked up a live baseball with his mask. By rule, runners advance one base and with Wong standing on third base, he came in to score.

However, in the bottom of the first inning, the Indians came back and took a 2-1 after Brewers shortstop Luis Urias committed two errors, continuing his defensive struggles at shortstop this season.

Urias made up for those two runs in the top of the 4th inning when he launched a 2 run homer to left field, his 20th long ball of the season. The Brewers continued to pile on from there and blew this game open in the 5th inning. It started with Eduardo Escobar hitting his 26th homer of the season with a solo shot to right. Avisail Garcia and Omar Narvaez hit back to back singles after that and then a Daniel Vogelbach walk loaded the bases.

Once again, Lavarnway made a mistake for the Indians, sticking his glove out too far and getting hit by Luis Urias' bat, making for a catcher's interference and allowing Urias to reach and another run to score. The bases remained loaded for Lorenzo Cain, who then blasted a mammoth Grand Slam to left field for his eighth homer of the season and the third slam of Cain's career. That made it a 9-2 Brewers lead.

Escobar hit his second home run of the night and the Brewers fourth long ball, this time from the right side of the plate, as the switch-hitter slugged his 27th home run of the year.

Adrian Houser was the starter and went six strong innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out five. He earned the win and moved to 9-6 on the season and Eli Morgan took the loss for Cleveland, falling to 2-7.

It ended as a 10-3 Brewers victory as the Crew moved to 87-55 on the year and dropped their Magic Number to clinch the NL Central down to 9.
