Bats come alive, but Crew falls short

The Milwaukee Brewers got one home run from Avisail Garcia and two from Daniel Vogelbach, but it still was not enough to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday at American Family Field, 6-5.

Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta (5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 7 K, 3 BB) did not factor into the decision.

Pittsburgh’s Colin Moran hit an early three-run homer, then had an RBI double in the 10th inning off of losing pitcher J.P. Feyereisen to give the Pirates a lead they would not surrender.

With Jackie Bradley Jr. on second to start the bottom of the 10th, Pittsburgh reliever Richard Rodriguez retired both Vogelbach and Garcia on a pair of flyballs before striking out Travis Shaw to end it.

The Brewers (8-7) lost two of three from the Pirates (7-9) over the weekend. Milwaukee now heads west for a three-game series at San Diego (10-7) starting on Monday night.
