Brewers rally late to tie, but fall to Dodgers 6-5

Eric Thames launched a three-run homer to tie the game at five apiece in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Cody Bellinger bested Josh Hader in the top of the ninth for the go-ahead run as the Los Angeels Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 on Sunday afternoon at Miller Park.

With the win, the Dodgers took three of four games in the series, and four of seven in the teams' meetings the past two weeks.

Brandon Woodruff pitched into the sixth inning, having given up five runs in the game on seven hits with six strikeouts. Jacob Barnes struck out three in a perfect eighth inning, and Hader managed to strike out three Dodgers, but also gave up the game-winning run.

The Brewers face the Cardinals for three games in St. Louis, the eighth, ninth, and tenth meetings between the franchises in the first month of the season. The series begins Monday night.
