Brewers smack three home runs, defeat Cardinals 8-4 on Tuesday

Lorenzo Cain, Yasmani Grandal, and Christian Yelich all went yard as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 8-4 on Tuesday night at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee got things going in the third inning, batting around in the frame and scoring five runs despite Christian Yelich striking out twice in the inning. The reigning NL MVP bounced back with a three-run home run in the fifth, which put the Brewers up 8-0 at that point.

Brandon Woodruff made it five and two-thirds innings pitched, allowing two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Milwaukee remains at 1.5 games up in the NL Central over the Pittsburgh Pirates, but now have a 2.5 game lead on the Cardinals.
