Badgers Come In At No. 21 In Initial College Football Playoff Rankings

After a 1-3 start to the season, the Wisconsin Badgers have rebounded over the last four weeks and have put their destiny back in their own hands. After falling out of the AP Top 25 the past few weeks due to continual offensive underperformance, back-to-back wins against Top 25 teams in Purdue and Iowa and that has put Wisconsin back on the radar.

Although Wisconsin missed out on making the AP Top 25 this week, the College Football Playoff committee released their initial rankings.

Wisconsin came in at No. 21 on the CFP's first Top 25 of the 2021 season.

This is a good sign for the Badgers program, as they've worked out some of the issues that plagued them earlier in the season and have rattled off four wins in a row. There's still a chance they could head to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship at the end of the season.

Although their three losses will make it nearly impossible for Wisconsin to actually make it into the 4 team playoff for the National Championship, this ranking should help them land a better bowl game at the end of the season, should they continue to win.

Georgia claimed the top spot on the CFP committee's ranking, with a 1-loss Alabama team ranked No. 2. Fellow Big Ten team Michigan State is third while Oregon rounds out the Top 4. Undefeated Cincinnati is somewhat surprisingly ranked 6th despite being undefeated while facing a decent schedule and being ranked No. 2 in the AP poll.

Other Big Ten teams in the CFP Top 25 include Ohio State (5), Michigan (7), Minnesota (20), and Iowa (22).
