Holy Cow! Video Shows Cows Causing A Traffic Jam After School In Wisconsin

Educators tend to hold many responsibilities, but wrangling cattle often isn’t in the job description.

Still, the professionals helped their unexpected visitors moooooove along one day after school last week.

In a true “Only in Wisconsin” moment, Swallow School District officials heard radios go off at the school “with chatter regarding a few brown cows on the loose running down County Road E,” in Hartland, Wisconsin, a Facebook post by Swallow School reads, recalling the unique roadblocks on the afternoon of January 7.

Swallow School also shared a video of the cows in the road, courtesy of Kelly Peiffer. Commenters were quick to appreciate the laugh and credit the employees who helped safely clear the road.

Custodian Jeffrey Grunwald, Superintendent Melissa Thompson and Principal Adam Scanlan typically help direct traffic at the end of the day.

But Thompson and Grunwald “sprang into action in their safety vests with quick feet to help guide the cows back to safety,” according to Swallow School. “Principal Scanlan took the helm stopping traffic from pulling out and keeping everyone safe until everything was under control.”

Though the cows caused a bit of a delay, parents “were understanding and chuckled” when they discovered the culprits of the unusual traffic jam at the intersection.

"Only in Wisconsin would this be the reason for an end-of-the-day traffic jam at school,” Grunwald said in the Facebook post.

Drivers remained patient as neighbors and school officials helped “get the cows back to safety and get the flow of traffic moo-ving again,” according to Swallow School.
