Baseball: Division 1 WIAA Tournament Brackets Released

Tuesday night's release of the WIAA State Baseball Tournament brackets completes the statewide field for the sport. It's the first year of consolidated spring-summer baseball into one WIAA sport, providing some interesting (and challenging) sectionals.

Sectional 1's top seed is Stevens Point, ranked #5 in the state, ahead of second-seeded Eau Claire North, who made it to state a year ago and will host the sectional Super Tuesday.

Sectional 5 will play Sectional 1 at state, and top seed Janesville Craig is rated the top team in the state as of the final Coaches' Poll. Sectional Super Tuesday host Oconomowoc is seeded #2, while last year's state runner-up Arrowhead is seeded fifth.

Sectional 2's #1 seed is Kimberly, ranked #3 in the state. The Papermakers made it to state a year ago, along with second-seeded Green Bay Preble, who advanced to the semifinals and will host the Super Tuesday sectional round. Preble is also rankd #4 in the Coaches' Poll. Bay Port, the #3 seed, is ranked #9 in the Coaches' Poll.

Sectional 8 and Sectional 2 will meet at state, and the top seed is Burlington, ranked #2 statewide and a state participant last year. Third-seeded Kenosha Tremper will host the Super Tuesday sectional, and second-seeded Kenosha Bradford is ranked #8 in the state. Fourth-seeded Muskego is the defending summer baseball state champion.

Sectional 3's top seed is defending champion Waunakee, ranked as the top team much of the season in the coaches' polls before slipping to #6 in the final poll. Super Tuesday sectional host Middleton is seeded fourth.

Sectional 3 will see Sectional 7 at state, and the top seed there is Oak Creek, ranked #10 in the state. Second-seeded Franklin is ranked #7, and Super Tuesday host Milwaukee King is seeded fourth.

Sectional 4's number-one seed is Manitowoc Lincoln, with Super Tuesday sectional host Oshkosh North seeded fifth.

Sectional 4 meets Sectional 6 at state, with top seed Menomonee Falls in the mix. Milwaukee King, seeded ninth, played at state last year. Brookfield Central, seeded fourth, will host the Super Tuesday sectional.
