Markus Howard leads Marquette past Villanova 66-65

Markus Howard scored 38 points and a Marquette defensive stand at the end of the game gave the Golden Eagles a 66-65 win over Villanova on National Marquette Day.

It's the fifth time this year Howard has scored over 35 points.

Marquette ended Villanova's 10-game winning streak and brings the Golden Eagles one game out of first place in the Big East, with one meeting remaining against the Wildcats later this month.

In addition to Howard's 38, Sacar Anim added 18 for the Golden Eagles. Villanova was led by Phil Booth with 19 points.

Marquette will travel to take on DePaul on Tuesday night.
