Marquette gets swept by St. John's, loses Tuesday 70-69

Marquette rallied once, but it wasn't enough as St. John's hit a late shot to defeat the Golden Eagles 70-69 and swept the season series. It was the first home loss of the season for #10 Marquette.

Shamorie Ponds led St. John's with 28 points. Justin Simon finished with 19.

Marquette got 19 points from Sam Hauser, 17 from Markus Howard, and 11 from Sacar Anim, but couldn't hold on late and lost for only the fourth time this season. Two of those losses have been to St. John's.

A huge match-up looms Saturday as the Golden Eagles take on Villanova.
