Haanif Cheatham Leaving Marquette Basketball Program

Junior guard Haanif Cheatham of the Marquette University men’s basketball team has decided to leave the program for personal reasons, effective immediately, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Monday morning.

“We want to thank Haanif for his contributions to the program and wish him the best of luck as he looks to continue his career elsewhere,” Wojciechowski said.

Cheatham had started each of the team’s first five games in 2017-18 and was averaging 26.2 minutes per contest, the fourth-highest mark on the roster.  The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native was chipping in 8.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor.

Cheatham was the most experienced player on the team, having started 63-of-70 games in his career.
