Markus Howard picks up Big East Player of the Week honors for fifth time

Markus Howard poured in 32 points in Marquette’s only game of the week, a 76-58 win at Butler. The junior shot 14-of-23 (.609) from the floor and grabbed five rebounds. He leads the BIG EAST in scoring with a 25.0 average, free throw shooting at 91.1 percent and 3-point baskets with 78. The 32-point effort was Howard’s 13th 30-point game of his career. The junior takes Player of the Week honors for the fifth time this season.

Howard won the weekly honor only a few weeks ago, when he averaged nearly 40 points over two games in wins over Creighton and Seton Hall.

Markus Howard Earns Fourth Big East Weekly Honor

In wins over Creighton and Seton Hall, Markus Howard averaged 39.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 47.8 percent (22-of-46) from the field overall and 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from behind the 3-point line. He also knocked down 22-of-24 free throws (91.7 percent).
