Those infamous lyrics of the Jerry Reed 1971 hit "When You're Hot You're Hot" is probably the best way to described the N.L. Central leading Milwaukee Brewers!
The Crew won AGAIN Wednesday night improving their record to 6-2, their best start since 2008, and a win tonight would give them their best start to a season since 1998.
So far in their five games on the road the "Brewer Nine" are batting a collective .321 (67-209), compared to the way they opened the season at home with a putrid .187 (16-87). They've scored 36 runs in the last five games, and hit safely in the last 21 consecutive innings.
As far as last nights game, the Brewer bats slapped 12 hits on their way to a 9-4 victory over the Phillies. The "Dominican Duo," Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura accounted for 5 of them, with Gomez hitting his third home run of 2014. Mark Reynolds also had a multi-hit game, crushing his second home run of the season, a 2 run blast in the ninth to seal up the game for the Crew.
The biggest hit for the Brewers regarding all the built up drama was Ryan Braun's 2 run triple in the eighth over Ben Revere's head in center.
Braun, in his 45 games against the Phillies lifetime is batting .389 (70-180) it's the highest average among hitters against Philadelphia since 1900 (with at least 180 at bats).
Let's not forget about the pitching, last night Tyler Thornburg won his second game of the year in relief, and the Brewer pitchers are holding on to the best ERA in both leagues at a microscopic 1.95.
A win tonight would not only result in another tally in the "W" column in the sports section, it would also constitute the 1st ever sweep of the Phillies by the Crew.
