What's in a Number?

Posted May 12th, 2014 @ 5:58am

Derek Jeter began what will be his Hall of Fame career back when he was signed by then Yankee scout Dick Groch. Jeter is the face of Major League Baseball, and one of that sports most recognizable faces, as well as his uniform number.

Jeter has worn number 2 his whole career, but why did he choose that number? Is it his birthday? His high school number? His lucky number? The audio below holds the answer to why "The Captian" wears number 2.

Since May 29th 1995 he's been listed as the player wearing number 2 in the game day program, but for many fans across the country and around the world he's always been NUMBER 1.
