Opening Day is less than a month away, and there is still snow on the ground and the temperature is having a hard getting above freezing... perfect time to reveal my 10 favorite baseball movies of all time...

10. (1992) "Mr Baseball" Tom Selleck plays baseball in Japan.

9. (2004) "Mr. 3000" Bernie Mac as a Brewer, need I say more?

8.  (2013) "42" Jackie Robinson, every fan of baseball needs to see it.

7. (1984) "The Natural" Robert Redford lives every boy's dream.

6. (2011) "Moneyball" Brad Pitt and the Amazin' A's.

5.(1988) "Eight Men Out"  History lesson, the 1919 "Black Sox" scandal.

4. (1999) "For The Love Of The Game" Kevin Costner as a Detroit Tiger.

3. (1989) "Major League" movie shot at Milwaukee County Stadium & Uecker

2.(1988) "Bull Durham" proves baseball is a religion.

And by far, hands down, my number 1 baseball movie is a HBO original starring William Peterson and Virginia Madison, "Long Gone"

The 1987 movie was about a Minor League Team (Tampico Stogies) playing ball in northern Florida in 1957. Unfortunately because this movie was made for HBO, it's extremely hard to find.

Since '87 (when I video taped it) I must have watched it 2 or 3 times a year, as well as the night before Opening Day as my baseball ritual. It is by far my favorite baseball movie. The VHS tape started to wear, and just last year I was lucky enough to find a DVD copy on I bought it, and the "Tampico Nine" will play on forever!
